Where the design decisions actually sit
Tile format sets the joint grid and the number of cuts. A 600×1200 porcelain reads calm but needs a flat wall; a smaller handmade-look tile hides movement but doubles the setting time.
Benchtops run from laminate through engineered surfaces to natural stone, each with different edge details and sealing needs. Tapware finish — chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, brushed brass — is chosen last so the whole set matches across mixer, rail, waste and accessories.

Why waterproofing costs a day of the program
Membrane goes on in coats with cure time between them, and the corners, junctions and pipe penetrations are detailed separately. Waterproofing of domestic wet areas in Australia is set out in AS 3740, and tiling cannot start until the membrane is done properly.
Can the layout change?
Usually yes, within limits set by the waste position, the stack and the floor structure. Moving a toilet is the most expensive change; moving a basin or shower head is often straightforward. That is decided at the assessment stage, before the quote.
What happens if something turns up during strip-out?
Rot, old lead waste or unstable substrate is not always visible beforehand. It gets photographed, explained and priced as a variation you approve in writing before we continue.
Do I choose materials before the quote?
You choose a level — the quote carries a stated allowance for tile, tapware and joinery — then final selections are locked in at the materials stage and the allowance is adjusted up or down against the real cost.
